Achieving Emotional Freedom by Zoey Jordan
“The eye sees only what the mind is prepared to comprehend…”
-– Henri Bergson
Emotional freedom comes from releasing our attachment to outcomes. Our freedom from worry, fear, resistance…it’s always there, resting just below the surface of emotions. When we are in a conscious state of releasing, we cannot be disturbed by what transpires in our lives. Being aware and conscious of our emotions allows us to release the emotional states we experience throughout the day.
Our Nine Daily Emotional States
According to the teachers of the Sedona Method, we experience 9 basic and distinct emotional states throughout the day.
- Apathy
- Grief
- Fear
- Lust
- Anger
- Pride
- Courage
- Acceptance
- Peace
We may not experience them with full awareness. When we are aware of negative emotions we can ask ourselves, “Am I this feeling, or am I just having this feeling?” This practice can allow us to separate from creating and living a false self identity.
But to truly move through the heavier emotions, the ones that limit us and our ability to visualize our limitless possibilities, the Sedona Method encourages us to dive deeper into the feeling and release it.

Resistance is a common and comfortable emotion for most of us. We may have adopted a belief that things aren’t supposed to come easy to us, or that things are supposed to be difficult. Clearly, resistance prevents us from moving ahead in all areas of our lives, especially when it comes to our personal development and joy.
What Does it Feel Like to Be in the Flow?
Think of a day you experienced when everything seemed to work perfectly. You seemed to be at the right place, at the right time, and things just came together seamlessly. That kind of day, could be a typical day…if you simply mastered the ability to move beyond resistance.
Over the next few days we’ll be looking at how to move through each of the 9 emotional states and how doing so can move you away from resistance and into the flow. A state that will allow you to manifest with great intent, and begin to experience and build the life you desire.
